Europe can take justifiable pride in having championed the Aarhus Convention. With its vast experience gained through the Aarhus process, Europe is well-placed to support other parts of the world to make progress in the recognition and protection of environmental democracy – namely, transparency, inclusiveness and accountability. We invite you to an event on:
New Developments in Environmental Democracy and Opportunities for EU-UN cooperation
A Briefing on Rio+20 and Principle 10
At the event we will present an overview of the global developments regarding the implementation of Principle 10, taking into account Rio+20; present activities, initiatives & projects, including those focused on implementing the Bali Guidelines; and discuss with participants Principle 10's importance in EU environment and development policy.
The panel will be made up of:
