Youth-led event: advancing the SDGs through the Global Gateway
Two key moments:
Online brainstorming event, led by youth with youth : Wed 15 June at 15.00 (Bxl time)
In person meeting between selected youth representatives and EU and UN high-level representatives: EDD Venue, Wed 22 June at 12:30-13:30 (Bxl time)
The Global Gateway is the new European strategy to boost smart, clean and secure links in digital, energy and transport sectors and to strengthen health, education and research systems across the world. Between 2021 and 2027, the EU will mobilize up to EUR 300 billion of investments in: digital; climate and energy; transport; health and education and research. As such, the Global gateway will play a key role in accelerating action towards the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), endorsed by all countries in 2015. The SDGs are more important than even as they provide a compass for a sustainable recovery from the current crises, which has been strongly advocated by EU and UN leaders alike. In the context of the 2022 European Development Days, this event will give young people a voice to express their expectations, demands and recommendations to the EU and the UN as major multilateral institutions making an impact on sustainable development worldwide.
An online brainstorming event co-created and co-led by young people will take place on 15 June at 15.00 Brussels time, with a plenary as well as break-out discussions organised around the five themes of the Global Gateway: digital; climate and energy; transport; health and education and research.
