OECD (2004) Lessons learned on donor support to decentralisation and local governance.
This study examines aid programmes geared towards decentralisation and local governance support. Based on experience of both bilateral and multilateral programmes, it presents lessons learned as well as guidance to donor and partner countries to improve their programmes.
Main findings of the study include:
OECD (2009) Donor approaches to governance assessments: Guiding principles for enhanced impact, usage and harmonisation.
This document summarises an analysis of various donors’ governance assessments and introduces five guiding principles to lead to better collaboration between donors as well as with partner country governments when conducting governance assessments. The principles were developed to improve donor impact, usage and harmonisation of governance assessment.
OECD DAC (2008) Survey of Donor Approaches to Governance Assessment
Many development agencies are engaged in assessing governance. What are their approaches and how can these be more effectively harmonised? This study from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development surveys donors' use of general and thematic governance assessments.
OECD (2009) Background Paper for the Launch of the workstream on Aid and Domestic Accountability
How does poor governance constrain development? This paper was prepared for the launch of the OECD DAC Network on Governance (GOVNET) work-stream on Aid and Domestic Accountability. It sets out a conceptual framework and approach that will enable donors and other stakeholders to explore the complexities of real-world governance, consider aid impact, and analyse the role that politics and incentives play in shaping domestic accountability.
